Martyn Wylde continues the legacy of the Bards of old, combining a vast repertoire derived from the rich folk traditions of England, Scotland and Ireland along with original and contemporary songs.
Accompanying himself on guitar, bouzouki, mandolin and bass, Martyn’s pure tenor and three octave range combine with his multi-instrumental talent to produce a truly unique folk instrument, bringing new life to material which is often hundreds of years old. His ability to engage audiences with personal stories and anecdotes about the music leaves his listeners feeling that they have witnessed a very special performance by a uniquely talented artist.
Martyn’s recent album - Learning From The Leaves - features both traditional and original songs, in addition to songs written by contemporary British and Irish folk artists. Martyn is accompanied on several tracks by The Harper and The Minstrel (Jay and Abby Michaels) and his former Celtic Mayhem colleagues, Ty Billings and Jack Stamates, but played many of the instruments and sang both lead and harmony vocals himself.
Martyn Wylde performs solo at folk and acoustic music venues, renaissance, Celtic and folk festivals.
